นอกจาก Huawei เปิดตัวชิป Kirin 990 ยังมีหูฟังไร้สายรุ่นใหม่ Huawei FreeBuds 3 ซึ่งเป็นรุ่นอัพเกรดของ Huawei FreeBuds 2 เมื่อปีที่แล้ว
หน้าตาของตัวหูฟัง FreeBuds 3 ยังคงสไตล์เดิม ปรับดีไซน์ให้ใส่สบายขึ้น หลุดยากกว่าเดิม มีให้เลือกสองสี (ขาว/ดำ) เหมือนเดิม สิ่งที่เปลี่ยนไปคือตัวเคสเปลี่ยนจากทรงสี่เหลี่ยม มาเป็นวงกลม เพื่อให้ถือหรือพกพาสะดวกขึ้น
ในแง่เทคโนโลยีภายใน FreeBuds 3 ใช้ชิป Kirin A1 ตัวใหม่ของ Huawei ซึ่งโฆษณาว่าเป็นชิปตัวแรกที่รองรับทั้ง Bluetooth และ Bluetooth LE แบบดูอัลโหมด เชื่อมต่อหูฟังทั้งสองตัวกับมือถือแยกกันคนละข้าง แถมกินพลังงานต่ำ (ดูคลิปประกอบ) รองรับมาตรฐาน Bluetooth 5.1
FreeBuds 3 มีหน่วยประมวลผลเสียง (audio processor) ทำงานที่คล็อค 356MHz การันตีว่าจะซิงก์เสียงกับวิดีโอได้อย่างเที่ยงตรง โดยเฉพาะเมื่อใช้เล่นเกม
ฟีเจอร์อื่นคือ การตัดเสียงรบกวน (Active Noise Cancellation) ทั้งตอนฟังเพลงและตอนคุยโทรศัพท์, ปรับปรุงคุณภาพของไมโครโฟน และคุณภาพของเสียง (ตัวขับเสียงมีระยะ 14 มิลลิเมตร)
