Trump พูดเรื่องนี้ในงานหาเสียงที่ Pawley's Island รัฐเซาท์แคโรไลนา โดยเขาบอกว่าทุกคนต้องร่วมกันบอยคอตแอปเปิล จนกว่าแอปเปิลจะยอมทำตามที่ศาลสั่ง
"What I think you ought to do is boycott Apple until such time as they give that security number. How do you like that? I just thought of it. Boycott Apple!"
Trump ยังโพสต์ข้อความลงทวิตเตอร์ว่าเขาใช้โทรศัพท์จากทั้งแอปเปิลและซัมซุง แต่ถ้าแอปเปิลทำตัวแบบนี้ (ไม่ยอมให้ข้อมูลผู้ก่อการร้ายกับภาครัฐ) เขาก็จะใช้แต่โทรศัพท์จากซัมซุงเท่านั้น
